A new competition coming to ZIM is the Champion's Shield!

The Champion's Shield is an annual match-up between the winners of Zimbabwe's Div I and the National Cup.

This will take place over two legs, with the winner being the team with the best points difference over the two legs.

If the league winners are the National Cup winners, the invite will go to the Super Zim Cup winners. If the league winners are both the National Cup and Super Zim Cup winners, it will go to the National Cup runners up.

This is what the teams will be playing for:

Nice trophy.. and a nice treat for the top teams to play for. It'll be many seasons before the rest of us get a look in though.

i did wonder for a moment who's idea this was.. cos if it was matt's i'd say it was a bit of a fix Wink

Well your hunch would be correct Fatman, Matt and I thought it would be a good idea to do; so I went ahead and organised it with BR.

For most of us this is going to be something that we look at from afar, but never say never.

But for a select 5 or so it might be a season highlight and entertainment for the rest of us

Champions Shield fixtures have been created, this should be an excellent match up between Muffin Chuckers (Div I Champs) & Old But Gold (National Cup Winners).

The fixtures will be played in the R1 & R2 of season 13 in the thursday friendly slot.

Book your tickets early to avoid disappointment, this is going to set Season 13 off to a flying start in Zim.

First Leg tonight and two of the biggest clubs in Zimbabwe go head to head at Muffin Chuckers Arena. So who do we think is going to take the physiological advantage?

Matt has the edge in head to head meetings, but Squeaks seems very determined this season, so the only thing I am going to predict is that it will be close.

This is certainly a first, Mattt thinking he is going to win? I suppose Muzza brought it upon him...

Laughing

For the record I wasn't being serious. Was such a hard fought win tonight. I think both teams have lots to work on, but also positives to take, the Sheep certainly played in patches and the tries were pretty incredible.
Next week will be very interesting, my team will be pretty different, but I really need to try and plug the gaps that were very evident tonight like the scrum and brealdown but mainly the midfield which really suffered and let the Chuckers through to cross the line and create chances often, but I think I know why!

Looking forward to it, but got all focus on Vela now Smile

Well Played Mattt, looking forward to next week.
