1 - Group Matches

Four points for a win, two points for a draw (match points). A bonus point will be earned by a team scoring four or more tries and by a team losing by seven or less points. The Group winners and runners-up will qualify for the quarter-finals and will be decided by the following criteria:

(i) the Group winner will be the Team with the highest number of match points earned in each Group. The runners-up will be the 2nd placed Teams from all Groups. For the quarter-final round, the Group winners will be ranked 1 - 4 in terms of the number of points earned. The runners-up will be ranked 5 - 8.

The bottom two teams from each Group will enter into the Plate competition. For the quarter-final round, the Teams placed 3rd in the Group will be ranked 1 - 4 in terms of the number of points earned. The 4th placed teams will be ranked 5 - 8.

Quarter-finals qualification if teams are equal:

Teams in the same Group
(ii) if Teams are equal on points and the Teams are in the same Group, then qualification / ranking will be based on the two matches played between the Teams concerned:

(a) the Team which has earned the most number of match points from the two matches (four points for a win, two points for a draw and bonus points).
(b) the Team which has scored the most tries in the two matches.
(c) the Team with the best aggregate points difference from the two matches.

Teams from different Groups
(iii) if the teams have not played each other previously in the Group stage, qualification / ranking will be based on:

(a) the number of tries scored in all Group matches.
(b) aggregate points difference from all Group matches.
(c) the Team with the fewest number of players sent off and / or suspended in all Group matches.

2(a) – Knockout Stages, Cup Competition

The top 8 play each other in 4 matches. The winners move on to the Cup semi-finals, and the losers move on to the Bowl semi-finals.

Teams ranked 1 - 4 will have home advantage. The Quarter-Finals will be:

Match 1
Team 1 v Team 8

Match2
Team 2 v Team 7

Match 3
Team 3 v Team 6

Match 4
Team 4 v Team 5

Winners of Matches 1 & 2 will have home advantage. The Semi-Finals will be:

Match 1
Winner of Match 1 v Winner of Match 4

Match2
Winner of Match 2 v Winner of Match 3

Winners of Match 1 will have home advantage. The Final will be:

Winner of Match 1 v Winner of Match 2

2(b) – Knockout Stages, Bowl Competition

Highest ranked teams from the Group stages will have home advantage. The Semi-Finals will be:

Match 1
Ranked 1st v Ranked 4th

Match2
Ranked 2nd v Winner of Match 3rd

Winners of Match 1 will have home advantage. The Final will be:

Winner of Match 1 v Winner of Match 2

2(c) Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Final

(i) in the event of a tie at full-time in the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Final, the winner will be decided by the following criteria:

(a) the Team that was winning at half time.
(b) he Team which has scored the most tries in that match.


3(a) – Knockout Stages, Plate Competition

Teams ranked 1 - 4 will have home advantage. The Quarter-Finals will be:

Match 1
Team 1 v Team 8

Match2
Team 2 v Team 7

Match 3
Team 3 v Team 6

Match 4
Team 4 v Team 5

Winners of Matches 1 & 2 will have home advantage. The Semi-Finals will be:

Match 1
Winner of Match 1 v Winner of Match 4

Match2
Winner of Match 2 v Winner of Match 3

Winners of Match 1 will have home advantage. The Final will be:

Winner of Match 1 v Winner of Match 2

3(b) Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Final

(i) in the event of a tie at full-time in the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Final, the winner will be decided by the following criteria:

(a) the Team that was winning at half time.
(b) the Team which has scored the most tries in that match.
